From the judges: The student's drawing is beautiful, and carries all of the emotion of the moment. The woman in the picture looks at the viewer in a direct way that holds all of the emotion of the moment. While the design is simple, the break in the lettering of the title also adds to the fractiousness of the moment.

About this Entry: This is the cover of the Summer 2020 issue of Cross Sections, which heavily focused on the Black Lives Matter movement and the School’s own reckoning with racial inequities. The cover artwork, entitled “Black Girl,” was drawn by rising 10th grader Zoie Brogdon. Cross Sections is the annual news magazine of Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences. The magazine is mailed to over 9,000 members of the School community, including parents, trustees, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents and friends.
