From the judges: This is relevant topic, and great to see the thoughtfulness in the speakers selected for the panel. The turnout for first-time alumni at this event clearly means they found a niche.

Title of Entry: Women Tech
About this Entry: On August 19, 2020 at noon PST, the Cal Aggie Alumni Association hosted a career services event for women in the field of technology or who are interested in entering the field of technology. As a STEM focused school with the majority of our Alumni working in the Bay Area, we know that many of our Alumni enter a tech field or have a desire to go into tech. Although jobs within the technology field are booming (according to the Pew Research center, they have grown by 24% since 1990), women are not often represented in this male dominated field. We decided to address this issue of diversity, equity, and inclusion head on through hosting this event. We hoped to build a space for women in the tech industry to find affinity with each other and to learn how to thrive in what is often a sexist workplace. We had 199 register for the event and 81 attend the event, resulting in a very successful event for a very niche audience.
